A Tale of Two Giants

by hopesfrenzy

After the Washington Monument and the World War II memorial, I finally mounted the steps of the Lincoln Memorial, stunning and quiet. I don’t think I ever thought I would stand here. What a privilege it was…

I wasn’t the only one there, and two of my favorite moment were finding “pilgrims” gazing up at his famous words. First, a young backpacker. Second, a child. The moment was stark.

Next, I walked through the Korean War Memorial to the Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial. Again, this felt unreal. His famous words, “The arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends toward justice,” have guided my recent life through everything our country is going through.

I felt on top of the world.
