Choppy Waters, Blue Waters

by hopesfrenzy

On New Years Day, 2015, Stéphane, his parents and I boarded a boat twenty feet offshore and took the choppiest boat ride ever to a pristine chain of islands known as Ang Thong — to snorkel, dine and take in the views. When we weren’t holding on for dear life, the breeze up front was perfect. We were laughing and pointing out the rock features.

These waters are full of tropical fish – striped, yellow and clown. Even a parrot fish! It was amazing.

Our guides were great! They entertained and told us about the local regions. By the end of the trip we were very tuckered out — an amazing, filling lunch in a tiny village satisfied us! Where we dined for lunch at “Ang Thong Village”, we had the entire place to ourselves for most of the hour, and it was wonderful! We walked around a bit and, of course, noticed how poor this village is. It must completely rely on the tour companies that bring visitors to the islands.  I will say that the Thai food wasn’t sitting too well on the way back…

One stop included a beach — just a narrow strip of sand between two rocks — where we got out, lounged and walked in the sand. And all I can say about that is: OMG IT’S A CUTE LITTLE GHOST CRAB!
