It was one of my last weekends in Ireland, and there were still a few places that I absolutely had to see. So I ventured out on my own to Galway, to use as my base for a couple of day trips!
First stop: the legendary Cliffs of Moher and the Burren. The cliffs were a sight to see – I know now why all the songs have been written about them. Sheer and dangerous. Epic crashing waves. Next, the Burren stretched on – for miles and miles – with its limestone fields, cracked and weathered by time and the elements.
The second day, I ventured north to Connemara country. Rolling hills, valleys and streams were what fashioned this world. And our top destination: Kylemore Abbey, a fairy tale castle set on the side of a lake. It was a memorable weekend.
