As my family and I continued to explore Yellowstone National Park in the summer of 2009, we drove farther and farther out to the northeast corner of the park. This drive will always be remembered as one of the most beautiful. After the Lower Falls, we hit up the Lamar Valley in the late afternoon, getting stuck in a bison herd along the way.
But instead of going back the way we came, we decided to go through the northwest corner, where we hadn’t yet ventured.
Hurriedly, to beat the sun, we sped along the mountain roads and through the valleys. We reached Mammoth Springs just as the sun was midway into it’s setting. The photos, breathtaking as they are, barely do the experience justice.
