GALLIVANTING
ACROSS ACADIA

For years, I’ve always wanted to go to Maine. I am not sure why. Perhaps because of its placement as the “Washington” of the east coast? The woods, the mountains, the islands… they all reminded me of Washington, only smaller in scale. But, our trip was just as beautiful as my times in Washington.

After our night in Bar Harbor and sunrise in Acadia, we spent all day gallivanting across the park. We started at Great Head, a jutting out of land with rocky outcropping that overlooked the Atlantic Ocean and Sand Beach.

The crescendo of our adventure was Penobscot Mountain, which we summitted. Atop was a full mile of barren rocks – how Mount Desert Island got its name – and cairns to mark the trail. It was a stunning experience, and we spent some time taking it in and goofing around before heading back down and leaving Acadia.
