MUDDY WATERS AND
A MUDDY MEADOW

Our last couple of days in Yellowstone National Park were spent in the Mud Volcano area – a place featuring, well, muddy boiling waters and “clay pots” or “painters’ pots.” This area was quite smelly, and featured quite a few lonely bison.

We also went on a hike through Hayden Valley – not so much a hike, as a walk through a meadow, but you get the idea. It was a really nice capstone to this most amazing trip with my family — imagine my mom lightly running through muddy grass to escape the gaze of a group of wandering bison.

It wouldn’t be until 2014 that I’d be back to Yellowstone.
