I’ve never seen wild monkeys in my life, so visiting the Batu Caves was high on my list of things to do in Malaysia. The caves are also a Hindu shrine to Lord Murugan – as you can see by the enormous statue erected to him. We took a 30-minute $5 Uber ride out to the Batu Caves (returning via public train, which was super easy). Luckily, we were there early enough that there weren’t many tourists, and the monkeys were fairly tame.
No shenanigans were to be had on this visit, unlike Stéphane’s previous visits. We climbed the steps, explored the grounds and had a lot of fun following the monkeys around, taking photos and enjoying the atmosphere of the temple and caves.
