Welcome to Island Paradise

by hopesfrenzy

The island of Koh Samui — Thailand’s second largest island — sits on the east coast with beautiful shorelines, tens of thousands of residents and rolling coastal hills. Our first days of exploration were magical.

Stéphane’s family and I landed via Surat Thani airport and took a bus to the ferry.  The bus ride from the airport to the ferry terminal was tough. But the boat ride from the mainland to Koh Samui was amazing. Cool breeze. We passed a giant Buddha statue. It was amazing.

Then a van to our final resort destination. Our first day was spent wandering in our vicinity.

One of the primary tourist attractions for Koh Samui is Big Buddha — a tall gold-colored statue of the deity. It towers above the coastline, and is within walking distance from our hotel. Stéphane and I spent our first morning walking here, wide-eyed along the way.
