A Pristine Morning in the Shire

by hopesfrenzy

Part of me thought that I would never get here. But here we were, in rural New Zealand, catching the first tour of the day through Hobbiton. A movie set built for the second trilogy, they created Hobbiton with about 50 Hobbit holes so that they could film at their whim — and keep it for fans to visit after the movies.

Our morning in Hobbiton was magical. We were the first ones in, so got to experience the environment without hordes of people. The detail was extraordinary, and you really felt like you were there.

At the end, a ginger beer at the Green Dragon Inn was a perfect way to end the tour! Lord of the Rings featured prominently for me growing up, and this entire trip was a wonderful way to experience it again as an adult.
