An Autumn Camp on Cranberry Lake

We had this notion to go camping in September. We rented a car, bought a few supplies we didn’t have (cooler, lantern) and were on our way. I remember being sick with a sore throat, but we went anyway, and I’m glad that we did.

Upstate New York is beautiful, particularly the Adirondack and Five Ponds Wilderness areas. We camped at Cranberry Lake, right on the water. The late summer sun was rich and warm. One morning we did a short hike up Mt. Arab, which had a fire tower and a bald top, similar to Mt. Desert Island in Maine.

All in all, it was a relaxing adventure that didn’t last long enough.
