Approaching Atomium

by hopesfrenzy

As we landed in Brussels, out my window I saw this structure. Multiple silver balls suspended in air. It was beautiful then. It was even more impressive up close.

After Stéphane and I packed up the apartment and carried our backpacks across the city, we trekked through the park up to the Atomium, a building constructed for Expo 58, the 1958 Brussels World’s Fair. Each sphere is habitable and there’s a restaurant.

We didn’t actually go up the Atomium, but what absolutely amazed me were the washers that scaled the side. It was breathtaking. What an experience. What a job. What a perspective.
