As my time in Dublin wound down, I explored some quaint towns around the city. I spent all day in Howth, galloping around its back trails. The resort town lies north of Dublin, and some of the trails even overlook Dublin Bay and the cargo ships that come into port. The beautiful part of Howth is that the sea stretches out from it, and brilliant clouds were out that day in full.
Another day my friend Sarah and I sat on the edge of a barnacle-covered cement wharf in Dun Laoghaire—another town north of Dublin. We sat there for hours watching the boats come into Dublin Bay. Fishing boats, cargo ships, yachts. It was our last day in the country, and I don’t think it could have been any better than stretching out in that resort town under the beautiful clouds.
