After our journey through Whanganui, we made it just in time to the ferry in Wellington. We had three hours to enjoy the Cook Strait as the sun set. Leaving Wellington was cool, but when we reached the south island, the hills through Queen Charlotte Sound and the surrounding bays were breathtaking.
The sun was setting at the opposite angle as we approached Picton, the small town where we would rest for the night. I remember seeing the little homes and villages along the shores of the hills, so remote and so peaceful.
