The ruins of a military bunker outside of Port Townsend are both spooky and interesting. The former glory of our military and its prevalence live on in these ruins–Fort Worden was once a base protecting the Puget Sound from the Russians or Japanese or whomever might find their way into the harbors. It’s over a hundred years old now. These rings are left over from huge gun turrets (the rings were part of a pulley system to turn the guns–pulled by mules!).
There are many old bunkers that descend into pitch black hallways that a person can barely fit through. I went exploring here with a couple of great friends, and I’m thankful they didn’t leave me in those dark hallways!
