The Pacific Northwest is known for its salmon – and the tribes around the area know it for its abysmal record of protecting the salmon runs and the rivers that they return to each year. Salmon spawn in the same place that they were born.
This trough of rushing water sits at the Ballard locks in Seattle and helps regulate the levels between the Puget Sound and Lakes Union and Washington.
