On a trip to Discovery Bay in Washington with my family, we made a venture to the Pacific Ocean along the peninsula. We drove past Crescent Lake (a gorgeous spectacle), and, at the very end of our trail, we turned down a steep hill to the small town of La Push, on a Native American reservation.
It sits right on the ocean. Definitely a beach town, and more impoverished than most, but my favorite part was the driftwood sea barrier that you could walk out all the way on until you reached a little lighthouse thing. The siblings and I did just that.
At the resort my family was staying at this little raccoon critter crawled up to our deck and asked for some food.
