Sunset / Sunrise on Mount Desert Island

I had never been to New England before this trip, and our night in Bar Harbor, Maine couldn’t have been a better gateway (or more quintessential). After an eight-hour day of driving and getting settled in a beautiful mansion of a B&B, we strolled around as the sun was setting.

Even though the weather and light were warm, this was still the off season. Not as packed. Restaurants closed.

At the recommendation of our host at the Atlantean B&B, we got up at 4:30am and drove to the summit of Cadillac Mountain where there was an impromptu four-horn salute to the sun! It was breathtaking…
