As we continued to explore Tallinn over the next couple of days, we sought out a few remaining sights that we hadn’t yet seen. One of the coolest experiences was our visit to the Hotel Viru, where a significant Soviet spy operation took place to watch the comings and goings of foreigners who stayed in the Hotel Viru, where all visitors were forced to stay. We saw their secret offices, and also stepped out onto the balconies with the Hotel Viru signage. It was just crazy to see the city from here, behind the huge letters. I don’t think I’ve ever done something like it.
I also climbed the city walls, up and down a couple of the towers, which were cold and dark. I meandered along the old alleys and parks, with a warm coffee in hand, admiring the towers and architecture of the city. It was a great end to the visit. Overall, our adventures through Tallinn were fantastic.
