Walkabout with Saint John the Divine

by hopesfrenzy

The fourth largest Christian church in the world, the Cathedral of Saint John the Divine lies northwest of Central Park. It remains unfinished, and it’s quite an eccentric church – peacock and all!

Half art museum and half church, the cloisters contain different pieces of art, inspired by 9/11, the AIDS crisis (Keith Haring) and the littler parishioners found throughout entitled Life and Death by Tom Otterness. As churches go, this one seems quite progressive. The statues around the church and marked on the entrance archway add a fun quality.

Lastly, we found a peacock out back. That was fun.
