Visiting Michigan in the fall is fairly spectacular. The weather was warm and cool, sunny and rainy, and the leaves vibrant. This was my fourth trip to Michigan to visit Stéphane, and we took advantage of the time to explore the area around Ann Arbor, where he is living.
We ventured to Lansing, the state capitol, and got a tour around the beautiful and colorful building. Our tour guide (Hazel) was delightful, though potentially conservative.
On our second free day, Stéphane and I went to Dearborn, Michigan to The Henry Ford, a museum and grounds complex featuring a multitude of historical “artifacts” ranging from Robert Frost’s house, Thomas Edison’s laboratory, Abraham Lincoln’s theatre chair, JFK’s limousine and Rosa Parks’ bus. It was pretty magical, actually. The day was so beautiful, we continued on to Detroit where we had lunch in Greek Town and explored Belle Isle State Park as the sun started to set.
